Shall we press on with the grand tour of this castle?
Trolling enemies and taking their lunch money never gets old. I'm assuming you can't get much at the canteen with this amount though.
I'll use this Save Point here for the sake of 200% completion.
The detour down from where we mugged the enemy leads us this elevator. If I remember correctly we can use this as a shortcut to an earlier point whilst getting some goodies in the bargain.
I love the ability to turbo on an emulator; meaning stuff like this will be quicker than how long it should be.
Our first stop takes us to a pair of sunglasses; this means that Alucard can relive the glory days of Captain N.
Our second stop takes us to an area which we can destroy with a cannon, making me wonder how much Dracula's bill would be when repairing the havoc I've created in the castle. The Basilard is as effective as a waving a leaf of basil at someone.
The Rebound Crystal from Castlevania 2 makes its return here. I used this one for a minute in my first playthrough; it's not a bad sub-weapon but the others, like the Holy Water and the Axe, are so much better.
Don't bother with what the text says, I mugged an enemy just before stumbling across this. The potion is useful for those embarrassing occasions when strong enemies or bosses corner or have you on the ropes, which happened a fair bit on my first playthrough.
The Bibuti is one of those things that sets a trap on the ground in order for your enemies to be stunned; kinda like entry hazards in the Pokemon games and the bananas used by Diddy Kong in the Super Smash Bros games. I'm usually a sucker for this kind of stuff but the upcoming boss will remain on the air for quite a bit so we'll have to pass up on it.
Let's say adios to the Alchemy Lab and get used to the Marble Gallery, and with a new area comes a new background piece. This one sounds quite jolly to start with but then gets pretty tense near the end of it, but either way it's quite a catchy piece.
You'd think that because there is a new area it would mean the bestiary would be more diverse right?
Guess some wishes do come true; too bad it has to be an enemy which you will soon learn to hate.
And that's why: as soon as it hits a slope it will be hard to hit yet its boomerang bones will get clean hits on you. Some of your spells and sub-weapons would be handy at removing these pests.
The level up was nice though. I would want to be at least Level 10 for this next boss.
Our second relic I believe; the Spirit Orb will allow us to see how much damage our enemies are losing. I suppose it's nice to see if you're weapons are shit at taking certain bosses down.
Unfunny Miley Cyrus jokes go here.
Remember what I said about the big enemies having the strength of a tickle?
While calling an enemy Skelerang is as creative as naming Dracula's little boy Alucard, these ones do look cool despite acting craven if you get too close to them.
If you were wondering then yes, I'm going through this distinct looking area because it's a shortcut back to The Entrance.
Despite what I said about bigger enemies being a pushover; this one over there, Ctulhu, is an exception.
When it bounces down, it can induce a hefty amount of damage if you're caught in his tracks.
See look, I needed to use a potion when fighting against it.
Holy Water should be able to do the trick though. No wonder I got a level up; the damn thing was at Level 9. I wonder how things would've gone if one of these things was the first boss.
We now appear to have enough MP to master the Soul Steal spell.
This is probably my favorite spell in the game; it drains everything that can be destroyed in plain sight. The only downsides with it are that it costs a fair bit of MP and the button combo can be fiddly for first timers.
What did I tell you? All of this was a shortcut to make our way back to the entrance, and listening to Dracula's Castle is a treat after enduring the tougher enemies that reside here.
Time to make our way back in, what I hope is, record time.
Ah Flea Men, my mortal nemesis in these games. Why? They're such nits to kill: they're fast and small so they can easily avoid your weapons, and Alucard will still act like a pussy when he gets hit by them.
Suddenly a horny teenager!
Kimberly Forsythe appears to have an inability at delivering some of these lines. It seems like she's reading the script, in a tin can to be more specific, and thinking "who the fuck says this shit? Ah well, in for a penny, in for a pound". Her voice also doesn't fit a 17 year old girl yet it fits a middle aged posh tart.
I'm guessing the ellipsis is either a bad habit of Alucard, he doesn't like being reminded of his vampire side, or he's rather love shy.
Am I the only one who can't stop making jokes out of a teenager befriending a vampire? At least this game doesn't have any shirt hating werewolves.
I wonder if Maria ever put two and two together with a name like that.
At least we won't have to endure anymore of her voice acting for a little while. Also, she acts as though the castle is a survival test rather than one big chart you need to fill out.
I'd need some better abilities to get up to some of these ledges.
Groovy! One more level and I'll be ready to kick the boss' arse.
The stop watch will be used in the future when we use it to open all holes where that large clock was. The reason why we can't do this now is beyond me.
I'll be back!
Yay! The big enemies have gone back to being complete and utter pushovers. I wonder if the DeviantArt users got creative with these enemies. Then again I'm assuming that the users are busy drawing Yaoi of Dracula and Alucard, and we were complaining about how creep Samus and Ridley was as a pairing.
I hate Stone Roses so much: while they're easy to corner and kill, they also have the ability to turn you into stone.
Like this.
The Marble Gallery wasn't too long was it? The Outer Wall's theme seems to be a moodier remix of the one that appeared in the Marble Gallery. Both themes really fit the atmosphere of the areas we're in. A downside with this theme though is that sometimes the rain can drown it out, no pun intended.
I suppose this could be used to try and beef up my defense. Better than nothing right?
Armor Lords are way too strong for this point of the game; Level 12 is higher than the upcoming boss. It doesn't help how Medusa Heads, my other mortal enemies, are spurting here.
Nothing which Soul Steal can't solve.
Yummy, I guess.
I'll be back! This joke is growing a grey beard.
Die Monster! You don't belong in this world!
I was hoping the blue Axe Lords would be a little bit harder. At least Red and Green Koopa Troopas have a difference that isn't just their color.
Now that we've had a quick pit stop, we should now see how much Exp we need to get to Level 10.
Too easy!
Shall we now go and fight the boss?
This had better be a good boss; the gift wrapping on this one is kinda overdone.
Oh shit, an Aluclone! Why doesn't Dracula use that as his son?
You fucking cheat! I can't even use that move yet.
He may have the cool gadgets and transformations but does he have the spells? Dark Metamorphosis is the best one here due to Aluclone (the real name is Doppleganger10 but Aluclone sounds more unfunny) producing blood when he gets hurt.
After a few more hits, the GameShark clone will go down in blood; it makes more sense than "in flames". I kinda regret bringing the Holy Water for a boss with such aerial maneuvers.
